What Should I Expect?

Visiting any church for the first time can make a person nervous. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What’s here for my kids? What can I expect?

We count it an honor to have you as our honored guest. Therefore, we will treat you warmly from the moment you exit your car. We are glad to answer any questions you may have and to help you find rest rooms, nurseries, and classrooms. Our goal is for you to be comfortable in our services and to treat you as we would wish to be treated.

Childcare

At all services there is a safe, clean nursery for children three years old and under.

Typical Attire

Our pastors and teachers, as well as many of our church family, wear the traditional “Sunday best.” We want you to be comfortable for your visit too. Men generally wear a dress shirt and slacks, often with a tie. The women wear modest dresses or a skirt-blouse combination.

Sunday Morning Service—11:00 AM

In this service, you will be blessed by the enthusiastic congregational singing and God-honoring special music. A clear and helpful Bible message (sermon) always follow the congregational singing. The sermons at GBC are Biblical, relevant, challenging, and encouraging. Themes such as living in the home, facing life’s problems, and reaching our potential for Christ will help you face the daily challenges you encounter along life’s way.

We do recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow for parking and seating.

We also take an offering during the services.  However, as our guests, we want you to feel no obligation to put anything in the offering plate. The service is our gift to you.

Sunday Evening Service—6:30 PM

This service is different from the morning service but follows a similar format. In addition to congregational singing, special music, and a practical message from God’s word, we share testimonies of what God is doing in our lives, learn Bible verses together, give young people an opportunity to develop their talents for the Lord, and more.

Once a month, we also have a time of fellowship after the evening service, which provides everyone with an opportunity to become better acquainted and get to know the church family.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting—7:00 PM

Wednesday nights are an important part of the week at Gateway.  There will be uplifting congregational singing and a Bible study.  But since prayer is a vital part of this service, we also reserve time for sharing prayer requests and praying together as a church family. It is a special blessing to hear testimonies of how God answers our prayers.  You won’t want to miss it!
